My friends Rino, Giulia and Flavio played a mean trick on Rino’s girlfriend, inviting her to participate in a playtest of Durance as her very first roleplaying experience. Her thoughts: “On one hand the game has its ‘backbone’, it’s own structure where you just need to throw the dice to choose player names and to describe the setting (planet and prison). This was a big relief: you don’t waste time and it gives you the guidelines to develop the plot. On the other hand it’s an abstract world, hard to imagine and so, hard to describe with words. I can make my character do anything, but in my head there is just a ball of yarn.”
