Many people have noted that Fiasco is a great game for writers, and we’ve often said that the setup would work well as a story-starter for other role-playing games. Nathan Russell of Here Be Gamers (among other things) has really put Fiasco to the test by creating his own playset and using it to prep for NaNoWriMo:

The best thing about this process was that it gave me plenty of time to think about the world that my characters were going to live in, the places and things that were important to them. It was essentially world building. Now, I have 150+ unique things to go back to when I am stuck for inspiration during NaNoWriMo.

Good luck with the NaNoWriMo, Nathan- we can’t wait to see how your story turns out. Be sure to publish the playset too, while you’re at it!
