Tabletop Sampler with Bully Pulpit Games

SAT 11/18 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM, ROOM 100B

Come join Jason Morningstar and Bully Pulpit Games for an afternoon of award-winning tabletop roleplaying games including Fiasco, Night Witches, The Warren, Carolina Death Crawl, and The Skeletons, as well as sneak previews of upcoming releases. No experience or preparation on your part required! Registration for multiple game sessions opens at 10AM on Saturday, Nov 18th, at PAX RPG HQ.

We’ll decide which games get played based on the interests of those who register for the event, so sign up and join us for a game! Here are some more details about the games that might be at each table:

This award-winning, GM-less game is for 3-5 players and designed to be played in a few hours with six-sided dice and no preparation. During a game you will engineer and play out stupid, disastrous situations, usually at the intersection of greed, fear, and lust. It’s like making your own Coen brothers movie, in about the same amount of time it’d take to watch one.

Night Witches

This is a tabletop role-playing game about women at war. As a member of the 588th Night Bomber Regiment, you’ll answer the call of your Motherland in her darkest hour. These 200 women and girls, flying outdated biplanes from open fields near the front lines, attacked the invading German forces every night for 1,100 consecutive nights. This games is based on the Apocalypse World mechanics.

The Warren

The Warren is a tabletop role-playing game about intelligent rabbits trying to make the best of a world filled with hazards, predators and, worst of all, other rabbits. It is a game about survival and community. This game takes inspiration from classic rabbit tales such as Watership Down, Fifteen Rabbits, and Peter Rabbit. It uses a heavily-modified version of the game mechanics from Apocalypse World.

Carolina Death Crawl

is a swampy, Southern Gothic roleplaying card game for three or more players. At the height of the American Civil War, your characters have been abandoned deep behind Confederate lines. Can they fight their way through enemy territory and treacherous terrain back to safety? For all but one, the answer is “no!”, but the dark story you tell in trying will be memorable and thrilling.

The Skeletons

The Skeletons flips the script on the classic dungeon crawl— here you play not the intruders, but the guardians, cursed to spend all of eternity defending a tomb. As time passes, both the tomb and its guardians will change. Ferocious battles are fought and won, and the skeletons slowly remember who and what they once were. Melancholy, introspective and spanning epochs, The Skeletons is unlike anything you’ve ever played.

Sneak Previews

Chances are good we’ll have one of our new, upcoming games on offer as well. Come check it out!

Bully Pulpit Games and the ONE SHOT Podcast Network Present: GHOST COURT

SAT 11/18 10:00 PM – 11:30 PM, ROOM 100B

Ghost Court is a ridiculous party game about ghosts and the people who sue them. In a small claims court full of plaintiffs and defendants, testy judges, overworked clerks, and peace-keeping bailiffs — all of whom might be living or dead — you and some of your favorite ONE SHOT performers will see that spectral justice is done, one absurd case at a time. Hop into a court role, plead your case, or BOO from the audience. No event registration required, just come and play!

Queer Game Design – More Than Just Representation

SUN 11/19 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, DIRE RAT THEATRE

Inclusivity is a popular topic in game design, but queer gamers want more than just representation. In this panel, designers and academics will talk about queer design, queering mechanics, and queer world-building. Alex Roberts (Production Coordinator at Bully Pulpit Games) joins Maury Brown (President, Learn LARP, LLC), Jennifer Gutterman (Visiting Professor of Animation and Game Design, Hampshire College), Amanda Perry (Queer & Disability Inclusion Consultant, Aurum Larp), and Matt Fantastic (CPO, Prettiest Princess Games) for an intermediate level discussion of queer game design.
